It is my hope to express the joy and faith that fills my life by the Grace of God through my work. I have loved to paint and draw ever since I can remember. My formal classical training began with an oil paint set from my mom on my 9th birthday and lessons with Fred Gong a portrait artist from Washington DC. I eventually went on to receive my BA in Visual Arts Magna Cum Laude from UCSD.

Since my early training, I have continued doing oil and pastel portrait work. I prefer doing portraits that capture a story with personality. I developed my landscape oil painting technique working en plein air while living in Grenada, West Indies, and then Connecticut. I have also enjoyed learning to carve leather and design stained glass. I have done acrylic paintings on glassware, walls and luggage. I am always up for a new artistic challenge.

Silk is the newest medium I have been exploring. The shimmering surface of silk and vibrant colors of fiber reactive dyes seem a great way to share my scuba diving experiences. Diving as deep as 120 feet to explore old wrecks, beautiful fish and interesting creatures, I gather images and inspiration. For reference, I use my husband’s radiant underwater photographs taken on our trips around the world. Silk is also a perfect medium for flowers, other images and wearable art.

I have received awards in international spiritual and silk painting exhibitions. I am a member of the San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild, Silk Painters International, San Diego Silk Guild and La Jolla Art Association.
